A new agreement, applying specifically to Pennsylvania but extending the principle to all states, was entered this weekend by the Federal Housing Administration here, barring all FHA business with any firm or individual that violates a state’s law against racial or religious discrimination.
The agreement with Pennsylvania, according to FHA Commissioner Neal J. Hardy, provides that the Federal agency will refuse to do business with those who violate Pennsylvania’s laws through discriminatory practices against “individual or groups by reason of their race, religious creed, ancestry, age or national origin.”
“The objective,” said Mr. Hardy, “will be accomplished by refusing to do business with those found to have violated the state law.” He declared that he hoped similar agreements will be worked out with other states.
