Fewer than one-fifth of non-Jews who marry Jews convert to Judaism, according to a new study. The American Jewish Committee report also found that some 30 percent of parents who convert reluctantly instill ambivalence toward Judaism in their children; another 30 percent of converts are active, committed Jews.
