Meir Shalit, First Secretary of the Israel Embassy here, will leave Friday for Israel to assume the post of deputy director in the Office of Premier Moshe Sharett.

Born in Lithuania, Mr. Shalit was brought to Palestine as a child and was educated in Tel Aviv. During the war, he served first with the British forces in the Middle East, later with the Jewish Brigade in Europe, and was discharged in 1946 with the rank of captain.
