A raid on a West Baltimore synagogue which resulted in damage estimated at $1,000 occurred over the week-end, according to a Baltimore police report which told of the arrest of five boys.
Benches and chairs were overturned, and the floor was littered with prayer books, glassware, silver, and wine. Upstairs cupboards had been broken into and ceremonial silver was bent, broken, or otherwise damaged. An undetermined amount of money was taken from collection boxes. The raid was considered juvenile vandalism motivated by anti-Semitism.
