Five U.S. legislators traveling in the Middle East canceled a meeting with Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat. “In memory of the four Israeli soldiers that were killed this morning by Hamas terrorist gunmen, my congressional colleagues and I have refused to attend the scheduled meeting with Yasser Arafat,” said Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.). The other lawmakers were Reps. Gary Ackerman (D-N.Y.), ranking minority member of the House International Relations Committee’s Middle East panel; Peter Deutsch (D-Fla.); Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.); and Barney Frank (D-Mass.).
