Julius Rosenwald was chosen with former President Calvin Coolidge and former Governor Alfred E. Smith to administer a large charity fund of approximately six million dollars left by Conrad Hubert, flashlight manufacturer. He willed this money to a fund to be used for charitable, educational and religious institutions. The will provided that the fund be administered by three prominent men of the three faiths.
