Foreign religious workers will face fewer hurdles in obtaining visas under new government rules. Previously, the religious worker program required such workers coming to the United States from abroad be affiliated with a specific church, mosque or synagogue. Jewish organizations that typically don’t affiliate with a particular synagogue suffered under the rules and could not hire qualified Jewish religious workers, according to the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society.
