Rumanian Jews who served in Nazi slave labor battalions for a period equal to that now being served by conscripts in the army will be exempt from military service under an order issued during the week-end by Gen. Mihai Lascar, Minister of War.

The order was issued following protests by a delegation of Jewish members of Parliament, led by Dr. William Filderman. The Jews pointed out that even under the pro-Nazi puppet regimes, the government considered service in slave labor detachments equivalent to military service.
