Former U.S. Officer Displays Articles of Human Skin He Found in Ilse Koch Residence

L.C. Schrahl, former United States officer who was assigned the job of cleaning up the Buchenwald concentration camp after the liberation, today displayed several “souvenirs” of human skin which he said he found in the former residence of Ilse Koch. The souvenirs included pieces of a lampshade and parts of a bock cover.

The fact that “Ilse Koch was responsible for these grim mementos of the Nazis’ victims,” Schrahl declared, “was reported to me by all inmates of the camp with whom I discussed the matter.”
