The Jewish Daily Forward announced in its edition today that as of Aug. 14 it will publish five days a week instead of six because of economic reasons. The Yiddish-language newspaper, which now publishes Sunday through Friday, will drop its Monday edition. The paper has had financial difficulties for years and recently has appealed to its readers for aid. The announcement in today’s edition was signed by Maurice Petrushka, president of the Forward, Harold Ostroff, general manager, and Simon Webere, editor.
