Four Israeli border police suffered minor wounds today when a jeep in which they were traveling struck and detonated a landmine in the demilitarized zone on the Israeli-Syrian border. The incident occurred north of Dan, on Israel territory.
An Israeli military spokesman charged that Syrian troops had laid a minefield within the zone. It was recently discovered and was partly dismantled when the jeep making its way along a narrow “safe” path through the field skidded and went off the road and over an explosive cache.
