Fourteen members of a fervently Orthodox community in New York were indicted for cheating individuals, banks and insurance companies out of millions of dollars, U.S. prosecutors said. The 68-count indictment alleges that the defendants, who live in Kiryas Joel, carried out “a myriad” of financial frauds since 1996.
