Frank Lautenberg and Norm Coleman won U.S. Senate seats on Tuesday, increasing the number of Jewish senators to 11. Lautenberg, a Jewish Democrat from New Jersey, defeated Republican Doug Forrester to return to Congress after a two-year absence. Coleman, a Jewish Republican who formerly was mayor of St. Paul, defeated former Vice President Walter Mondale to capture the seat held by the late Sen. Paul Wellstone (D-Minn.).
