A Polish officer who arrived here from Vichy after escaping from occupied France said today that the anti-Jewish movement in Paris was an “import made in Germany.”
Writing in the Evening Standard, Lieut. Zy gmunt Litynski declared that the Vichy Government had “gratefully adopted” the anti-Jewish drive in the hope that “this will help them to canalise against the Jews the economic discontent of the masses.” He added that banishment of Jews from public office opened new jobs, giving the Government the opportunity of finding places for its supporters.
Litynski charged that even foreign diplomats were not immune from Vichy’s anti-Jewish line.
