The expected approval by the French National Assembly’s judicial review committee of a general amnesty law introduced last December would pave the way for 3,000 Nazi collaborators still interned in French jails to obtain their freedom, it was learned here today.
If the measure is approved, the majority of the collaborators will be enabled to resume their political activities. It is believed here that the measure will win Assembly approval, since only the Socialists and Communists appear to oppose it. Of the 100,000 Nazi collaborators convicted after the war, only 3,000 still remain imprisoned.
