Paris newspapers voiced sharp editorial criticism today of the attack made on Israel by President de Gaulle during his press conference yesterday. Only one newspaper, the Communist daily, L’Humanite, voiced general agreement with Gen. de Gaulle’s attitude.

The independent liberal daily, Combat, said the official French position on Israel, as presented by Gen, de Gaulle, could only give rise to disgust. The newspaper, L’Aurore assailed the president’s lack of objectivity.

Rene Plevin, former President of the Council, and Daniel Mayer, president of the League for the Rights of Man, in statements today, denounced President de Gaulle’s position on Israel, the latter describing it as “odious.”
