The deportation of many Jewish peddlers from Lille was prevented today as a result of representations made by the National Committee for Jewish Immigration in Paris.

A delegation of the committee visited the police prefect of Lille, asking him to ease anti-foreign measures which threatened many Jews with deportations. The police official promised that he would examine carefully every Jewish case, in view of the fact that many Jews are stateless and cannot be deported anyway.
