French presidential candidate Jean-Marie Le Pen suggested holding illegal immigrants in “transit camps.” Le Pen, who is challenging incumbent Jacques Chirac in a May 5 runoff election, said April 25 that internment camps would house illegal immigrants before they were expelled, to prevent France from becoming “submerged” with immigrants.
