The French authorities in Syria have arrested many leading Mohammedens for pan-Arabic propaganda, and for organizing secret societies to support King Hussein as Caliph. Among those arrested was the ex-Mufti of Beyrouth, Ali Rechame, one of the leading figures in Syria.
Dr. Fakhoury, an Arab political leader, was expelled from Beyrouth for carrying on propaganda in favor of King Hussein. Dr. Fakhoury, who is very influential among the Palestinian Arabs, is the owner of the hot springs concession in Tiberias. Upon his expulsion he went to Haifa.
