George Bernhard, editor-in-chief of the Vossische Zeitung, candidate for the German Reichstag on the democratic ticket, was slated as a victim of the anti-Semitic Hakenkreutzler group, according to confessions of two men arrested in Halle. They were identified as members of the Hakenkreutzler and were armed when arrested. They stated that they wanted to kill Bernhard because he is a Jew.
