An enthusiastic Hamburg audience Sunday night demanded a number of curtain calls at the conclusion of the German premiere of “The Castle,” Max Brod’s dramatization of Franz Kafka’s famous novel of the same name. Both the late Kafka and Mr. Brod are Jews.
Mr. Brod is a winner of the Bialik Prize and a longtime resident of Israel. He is a native of Prague where he was Kafka’s close friend and principal literary executor.
