A West German court, headed by Judge Hans Rausch, opened sessions here today to hear Israeli witnesses in the prosecution of a former SS officer on trial in Germany now for war crimes.
The indicted man is Martin Planz, who is charged with organizing during the war of the deportation of Jews from Cracow, Poland, who had been sent to Nazi concentration and death camps. At the request of the German Government, Israeli police have obtained evidence against Planz and have rounded up witnesses who opened their testimony before Judge Rausch today.
