West Germany’s Minister of Finance Dr. Fritz Schaeffer, in a radio broadcast today, bitterly criticized Dr. Otto Kuester, deputy head of the German delegation to the reparations talks with Israel, who resigned in protest against the stand taken by the German Government on Israel’s claim.

The German Minister, who has been charged with leading the opposition in the Cabinet against paying substantial compensation to Israel, said that Dr. Kuester had misinterpreted his authority. “Instead of taking instructions from the West German Government, Dr. Kuester had tried to give instructions to the Government and even made himself a spokesman for the Jewish delegates at the reparations talks, forgetting his real task,” the Finance Minister said.
