The Free Democratic Party, a member of the Bonn coalition Government, today suspended its district secretary for Upper Bavaria, pending an inquiry into charges that his attitude is “nationalist and anti-Semitic.” The man was named only as Mr. Altschaeffel.

At the same time, the party’s Bavarian executive emphatically rejected charges that the organization’s district board in Upper Bavaria shared Altschaeffel’s views. Terming the man “an outsider, “the party secretariat stated that it was not correct to charge the party itself “with an outsider’s attitude.”
