Germany’s former foreign minister said Ariel Sharon was a late convert to Israeli-Palestinian peace efforts. “Opinions have always been radically divided over Ariel Sharon,” Joschka Fischer wrote in this week’s Die Zeit magazine, “since neither as a politician nor certainly as a soldier was he a man of peace.”
