A memorial meeting for the Jewish student, Walter Steinfeld, killed last Sunday in Breslau by Nazis, which was scheduled for today, has been prohibited by the police acting on orders from the Prussian Minister of Interior, the Nazi leader, Hermann Wilhelm Goering.

The memorial meeting was organized by the Republican students and prohibited at the last moment when Republican students had already assembled for the meeting. Nazi students came on the scene of the memorial and proceeded to attack those present. Clashes followed which spread from the University campus to Friedrichstrasse.

Many students on both sides sustained slight injuries. Five Nazis and two Republicans were arrested.

Steinfeld, the Jewish student, was killed last Sunday as he was returning from a demonstration arranged by the Republican organization “Iron Front.”
