Foreign Minister Golda Meir was awarded today the honorary citizenship of the State of Maryland by Governor J. Millard Tawes, who is currently visiting Israel.
In a citation signed by Governor Tawes, Mrs. Meir was honored “in grateful recognition of the international fame she achieved as a diplomat, as a leader of her people, as a crusader for peace and freedom and as one of Israel’s most eloquent and forceful spokesmen.”
