Recalling the “splendid history” of the Jews during these thousands of years, Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt, in a Rosh Hashanah message to the Jews of New York today, said that the progress of mankind is being greatly helped by Jewish leaders.

The text of the Governor’s message is as follows:

“At the approach of the Jewish New Year I send my greetings. It is well for us to remember not only the splendid history of the Jewish people during these thousands of years but also the fact that today in our American civilization the progress of mankind is being so greatly helped by Jewish leaders in every profession and occupation and every good cause.

“May this New Year bring to all every happiness.
