Governor Thomas Kean has announced the formation of a committee of New Jersey public officials to work on behalf of Soviet Jewry. Kean will chair the committee, composed of Cabinet members, State Senators and Assemblymen. In making the announcement at a joint meeting of the Legislature, Kean said “If we continue to be active, vigilant and involved, then we send an ongoing message to the leadership in the Kremlin. We say that the issue is important to us. We say that accommodation with us on a variety of issues cannot be reached until it incorporates this one as well.”
