The Greek government’s subsidy for Jewish schools this year totals 1,800,000 drachmas ($23,400) an increase of 400,000 over last year’s subvention. The increase is due to the efforts of Senator Mallah and the urgent request of the Federation of Jewish Communities. In the meantime the Jewish community of Salonika is still trying to obtain the government’s support for the establishment of a Greco-Jewish secondary school.
