Harry Guggenheim, American ambassador to Cuba, yesterday cabled from Havana to Dudley D. Sicher, president of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies, that he was sending a check for $1,000 to aid the campaign for $2,221,000 now under way to complete the Federation’s 1930 budget of $5,499,000.

Mr. Guggenheim said in his cablegram:

“In times of economic stress, when other forms of enterprise may reduce their activities, the charitable organizations cannot be permitted any such reduction.”
