Guido Jarach was elected today president of the Milan Jewish community, succeeding Astorre Mayer, a leading Italian Jew, who resigned the post because of his preoccupation with international Jewish affairs.
The new president, who is 61, is a noted engineer, industrialist and Milan bank president. Mr. Mayer said after the elections that Milan Jewish communal affairs were passing into very experienced hands.
