The Preparatory Commission for the International Refugee Organization has decided against the formation of a special department within the I.R.O. for displaced Jews.
The action was taken following the demand by organizations of pro-fascist displaced Balts, Ukrainians and Poles that special departments also be established for their groups. However, the Jewish relief organizations now doing field work in the DP centers will receive a special status permitting close cooperation with I.R.O. officials.
