A special effort to plant this year at least one tree in Israel in the name of each of the 325,000 Hadassah members will be made by Hadssah, it was announced here today by the Jewish National Fund of America. The Hadassah tree-planting effort will be concentrated in the Calilee hills region.

Addressing a Jewish National Fund dinner here, Mayor Robert Wagner called on President Eisenhower to grant Israel’s request for defensive weapons and to support a United States-Israel mutual defense pact. He emphasized that this is the only way to prevent a Middle East war which could lead to a world conflict. Speaking on the same platform, Carmine De Sapio, New York Secretary of State and leader of the Democratic Party, asserted that the Democrats will not follow the suggestion of Secretary of State Dulles to abstain from discussing the present Middle East crisis during the coming election campaign.
