Although there are only 200 leprosy cases in Israel, the work done by Hadassah and Israel’s Health Ministry here on behalf of those patients has resulted in “wide repercussions” in Asia and Africa, where that dread disease is a grave problem, Mary Switzer, American director of the Federal Office of Rehabilitation at Washington, declared here today.

The American official is here to attend the second conference of the Israel Rehabilitation Council. She is the first woman recipient of the coveted Albert Lasker Award for international work in rehabilitation of disabled persons, an honor given to her two years ago.
