Haifa Municipal Council Suspends Subway Operations on Sabbath

The question of whether the new subway ascending Mount Carmel here should operate on the Sabbath, has been temporarily settled and will not come up again until after the November elections.

The Municipal Council decided to refer the issue to the next Council which will be constituted after the coming elections. Until that time, the subway operations will be suspended on the Sabbath and on Jewish holidays.
