A budget of 10,000,000 Israel pounds for the coming academic year of the Haifa Institute of Technology and an additional 6,000,000 pounds for development expenditures were approved by the Technion board today at the close of a week-long meeting.
It was also announced that a 40,000-tree forest in Technion City will be named after Dr. Abraham Tulin of New York for his “monumental and historic assistance” to the development and advancement of the technical school. The board also decided that the new agricultural and engineering school of the Technion will be named for Dr. S. Kaplansky who was its head for many years.
(Nine research projects sponsored by the Ford Foundation are being conducted at the Haifa Institute of Technology this year, it was announced today in New York by J. R. Sensibar, president of the American Technion Society. Valued at nearly $150,000, the grants range from agricultural problems indigent to Israel to various industrial fields.)
