Haifa Workers Raise “internal Loan” to Combat Unemployment

The Workers’ Council of Haifa has decided to float an “internal loan” in order to carry out public works on which to engage the unemployed. Every worker in employment will participate in the loan to an amount of £E3. The Council also urged that the Jewish institutions should speed up the arrangements for the carrying out of their projected public works in order to provide work for the unemployed.

The All-Palestine Conference of Railwaymen was opened here, Jewish and Arab delegates being present. Mr. Feigenberg welcomed the delegates on behalf of the Central Committee of the Railwaymen’s Association, and Mr. Mereminsky on behalf of the General Jewish Labor Federation.

A number of resolutions were adopted dealing with relations with the Railway Administration, the Transport Workers’ International and with the question of a common Jewish-Arab organization of railway workers.

The fifth annual convention of the Georgia-Florida Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, a subsidiary of the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods, was held in Albany, Ga. More than 50 delegates attended.
