Hamas and Islamic Jihad agreed to a truce in the Gaza Strip after two days of deadly fighting.
The truce, brokered by the Popular Resistance Committees, creates a strategic relationship between the two rival organizations, according to an Israel Army Radio report.
The fighting began after Islamic Jihad gunmen tried to kidnap a Hamas member in Gaza. In retaliation, Hamas captured 15 Islamic Jihad members, including the top commander in Rafah.
Four were killed, including a 13-year-old, and more than 40 were injured.
In recent weeks the groups have had a standoff over control of a southern Gaza mosque.
