Hamas claimed responsibility for a car bombing in Netanya that wounded at least 50 Israelis on New Year’s Day. The group identified the bomber as Hamed Abu Hijleh, a student from Al-Najah University in the West Bank city of Nablus. The bomber, who was seriously wounded in the attack, died in an Israeli hospital.
