Hamilton Fisher, 51, press officer and official spokesman for the United Nations truce supervisory organization, was fatally injured last night when a jeep in which he was riding from the demilitarized zone here to Bethlehem overturned. He suffered a fractured skull. He was brought to Victoria Hospital here in serious condition, and succumbed this morning.
Mr. Fisher, an American, was very popular with the press corps here. The Israeli Foreign Office, individual Israeli Government officials, and the Journalists Association sent messages of condolence to Mr. Fisher’s family, to United Nations Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjold, and to Mr. Fisher’s superior officer here, Maj. Gen. Vagn Bennike.
