Mr. Hays, in a statement released by the Commission, replied yesterday to charges that the probe would not be impartial. “If by that,” he stated, “is meant that the Commission is made up of men who hate tyranny and injustice, the charge is correct, but we are men who, I believe, can be trusted to make a fair report on the evidence submitted. At any rate, that is our intention.
“It is the purpose of the Commission to present facts, not for judgment, but for the court of public opinion.”
