The Hebrew Orphan Asylum, the oldest Jewish institution for orphans in this country, now 108 years old, is highly praised for its increasing activities on behalf of child welfare, in the report of the New York State Department of Public Welfare which has been published this week. The Hebrew Orphan Asylum is affiliated with the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies.
The Edenwald School of the Hebrew Orphan Asylum, where a new building exclusively for boys has been erected on the institution’s property, is especially praised in the report, which also lauds the Friendly Home, where the pupils do all of the household work, and the Asylum After-Care Department, which supervises children who have been discharged from the institution.
