Hebrew Union College Begins 54th Year

With a record enrollment of 132, the Hebrew Union College held its fifty-fourth annual opening exercise here.

In his address Dr. Julian Morgenstern, president of the college, said:

“It is high time that we produce modern Jewish biblical scholars who can interpret the Bible objectively and scientifically, but also with profound Jewish knowledge, understanding and sympathy.”

Dr. Morgenstern announced that the following has qualified for the degree of Bachelor of Hebrew: Frederick A. Doppelt, Jerome D. Folkman, Herman I. Pollack, Jerome Rosenbloom, Meyer Simon, Joshua Trachtenberg, Arthur Zuckerman, Fred W. Frank. David Eichorn, Albert S. Goldstein, Jesse Ross. Abraham Shusterman, Allan Tarshish, Sidney Wolf.
