Twenty students of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion were ordained rabbis yesterday at the school’s 68th ordination services. In addition, two honorary degrees of Doctor of Hebrew Letters and one honorary Doctorate of Divinity were awarded.
A featured speaker at the ceremony was Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver, whose son Daniel J. Silver, was one of the 20 students ordained. Last night Dr. Julian Morgenstern, president emeritus of the seminary, was honored on the 50th anniversary of his ordination.
