Assisting Jewish college students to deal more effectively with their spiritual problems is the main task of the B’nai B’rith Hillel Foundations movement, Rabbi Arthur Lelyveld, director of the Foundations, declared here today at the three-day conference of more than 60 rabbis and directors of Hillel units in this country, Canada and Israel.
This is the first conference since 1949 of the full professional staff of the Hillel Foundations. The parley is exploring the future of the movement in the light of its three decades of experience. The Hillel movement provides religious, cultural and educational counselling services for an estimate 150,000 students on 206 campuses.
At the convention here of Aleph Zadik Aleph, the boys’ section of the B’nai B’rith youth movement, Eliott Rothman, a sophomore at the Carnegie Institute of Technology, was elected president today, at the conclusion of the AZA parley.
