Dr. Frederick B. Robinson, president of the College of the City of New York, returned to New York yesterday aboard the Scandinavian-American liner Frederik VIII and reported hearing universal expressions of disapproval of Adolf Hitler’s "blood purge" of allegedly disloyal storm troop leaders and others last June 30.
"Persons with whom I talked," said the educator, "said they were convinced Hitler’s power will end shortly with the disintegration of his party. The death of Hindenburg, I was told, would have little effect on Hitler’s power. While he was ‘a grand old man,’ he actually was pretty much of a figurehead."
Dr. Robinson shipped aboard the Norwegian freighter Tela as one of the crew when he left for Europe. He called the experience "the happiest sixteen days I ever spent."
