This was the advice of a mild mannered, slow-spoken man with tired eyes, a Chiristian minister whose economic liberatlism has won him international reputation and who as president of he American Civil Liberties Union since its founding in 1920, has led fight after fight against bigotry, intolerance and oppression.
He is Dr. Harry F. Ward, professor of Christian ethics at Union Theological Seminary, Colunbia University, and senior secretary of the Methodist Federation for Social Service.
“The Nazis are not going to get far in this country,” said Dr. Ward author of thirteen books on economics and political science. “The American people, unlike the Germans, don’t like to wear unforms and march.”
