Otto Skorzeny, the man who was Hitler’s chief bodyguard and who rescued Mussolini from a mountain prison when he was first captured, declared today that he is not a Nazi and has no link with present-day Nazi activities.
Skorzeny made the statement in an interview with a correspondent for the Daily Express. The 52-year-old former colonel, is now a farmer on a 168-acre estate which he and his wife purchased in County Kildare, Ireland. He said that he had not yet applied for Irish citizenship.
(Last June, Skorzeny was reported to have gone to Vienna to arrange for attorneys to defend Adolf Eichmann, the Nazi war criminal who directed the extermination of 6, 000, 000 Jews in Europe during the Second World War. )
