Camille R. Honig, special European representative of ORT-OSE, Jewish retraining and health organization, is leaving for Lithuania next week to study the Polish Jewish refugee situation and to report on it to London, Paris and New York headquarters of the organization.
Before his departure, Honig was received by Lithuanian Minister Balutia, with whom he discussed his mission and the work of the ORT-OSE. Balutis declared that there was no anti-Semitism in Lithuania and that the Lithuanian people were eager to help the refugees in their distress.
The minister pointed out, however, that while the Lithuanians were glad to do everything possible and the authorities were according lenient treatment to refugees without passports as well as others, the burden was too heavy for a small country like Lithuania. He therefore welcomed the assistance of Jewish relief organizations and praised the interest of American Jewry in the work. He said he would request the Lithuanian authorities to extend all facilities to Honig.
